Volunteer programs

Our partner, who rescues meerkats, cares for them, and releases them into the Kalahari Desert, invites you to join them! Discover these amazing animals and help care for them daily. You have two possible volunteering options:

You’ll help with daily tasks caring for the meerkats and supporting the reserve.
This can include :

• Feeding and watering pups
• Babysitting pups on their playtime untill they nap
• Cleaning meerkats enclosures
• Giving follow-up treatments and medication to injured or illed meerkats
• Monitoring and feeding realeased meerkats in the wild
• General maintenance at center : building new enclosures, repairing existing ones, ...

Take your volunteer experience even further with this program, which allows you to organize your days freely while continuing to contribute to conservation and help the center.

You can choose what you prefer to do during your day from tasks such as : administering treatments, monitoring released groups, pup care or enclosure cleaning and maintenance.

The good news? You can easily combine your meerkat experience with other exciting activities on the farm or nearby:
Horse riding/care,
Enjoy a sand dune sundowner,
looking for scorpions at night, ...

• Visits to the nearby Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park,
• Hot air ballooning over the stunning desert landscape

Felidae is our proud partner, an organization that rescues African big cats from canned hunting, the illegal pet trade, and human threats. They offer them a second chance at life.

You too can help by volunteering!

As a volunteer at Felidae, you will help the reserve with daily task arround animals.
This can include :

• Prepare food for the animals and distribute it
• Taking care of animals of the center
• Exercise and stimulate animals every day
• Cleaning the enclosures of the various animals
• Assisting staff with tours and explanations for visitors to the centre
• Numerous other tasks necessary to help Felidae and the animals on a daily basis
  

By volunteering at Felidae Centre, you will help protect African big cats while learning more about their specific characteristics and behaviour every day by working closely with them.
